Our charges for the collection and distribution of assets within the United Kingdom of a person following their death, will depend on the complexity of the estate in an uncontested matter.
In relatively straightforward cases our charges to fully administer an estate are likely to be in the region of £3,000 to £6,000 plus VAT calculated on an hourly rate basis of £195.00 plus VAT per hour. Our charges would cover the contacting of all asset holders, obtaining values at the date of death, preparing the application for the Grant of Probate, encashing the assets, preparing the estate accounts, seeking the beneficiaries approval of the accounts and making payments to them. This process can take between 9 and 12 months from the date of instruction.
In more complex cases requiring the payment of inheritance tax and the involvement of estate agents to sell properties, our charges to fully administer the estate are likely to be in the region of £5,000 to £15,000 plus VAT. Complex estates which contains multiple properties are likely to take between 12 and 18 months to deal with.
Our charges do not include conveyancing costs and any disbursements which may be payable, for example:
- Probate Application Fee – £155.00 + £3 per copy of the Grant of Probate;
- Land Registry Searches – £3 plus VAT (£3.60 inc. VAT)
- Financial Asset Search – £155 plus VAT (£186 inc. VAT)
- Statutory Advertisements – Costs can vary but these are usually no more than £200 plus VAT (£240.00 inc. VAT)
- Bankruptcy Searches £2 plus VAT (£2.40 inc. VAT)
